Scrammerly Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Scrammerly is a personal AI writing assistant browser extension. It is designed so that the developer never receives, stores, or has access to any of your data.

What the extension processes

  1. Text you actively select or type in editable fields is processed to provide rewrites and proofreading corrections. This text is sent only to the AI endpoint you yourself configure — a local Ollama server (fully on-device) and/or an AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter) using your own API key.
  2. Your settings — style profile, personal dictionary, custom rules, snippets, preferences, and API keys — are stored in your browser's extension storage (Chrome sync storage, synced by Google across your signed-in browsers). They are never transmitted to the developer.

What the developer collects

Nothing. Scrammerly operates no servers, contains no analytics or telemetry, and the developer receives no user data of any kind. No data is sold or shared with third parties.

Data transmission

Data retention

The extension retains nothing beyond the settings you save in browser storage. Removing the extension (or clearing extension storage) deletes them.
